The amount of light and the quality of light in a space will greatly impact how that space is used or if it is used at all. I recently partnered with Home Depot to update the lighting in our guest bedroom and living room with their EcoSmart bulbs. These EcoSmart bulbs are exclusively available at The Home Depot.

After being home for over a year due to the Pandemic and working from home, I really took note of the quality of light in our spaces especially since a couple of our spaces were now serving double duty.   Lighting element in decorating is just as important as choosing one’s furniture. Light’s basic function is to be utilitarian. For utilitarian purposes, lighting can be broken down into these 3 categories; general illumination, local lighting, and accent lighting. When thinking of general illumination, this usually is about the total light available in a room. It must be sufficient to ensure safety of movement and should be of a high enough level for simple tasks. Local lighting is usually provided by table lamps and tends to raise the level of overall illumination. Accent lighting tends to focus on a specific need for e.g. spotlighting a favorite piece of art.

Improving lighting is very much linked to the type of light bulb you choose. In our guest bedroom, I noticed that a couple of the existing bulbs had darkened with age which was more than likely reducing the light output so it was time to switch them out, plus since an area in the room was now being used for virtual school, I wanted to try the Daylight bulbs. I went to Home Depot and bought the EcoSmart ST19 Dimmable Clear Glass Filament Vintage Edison LED Light Bulb Daylight as replacements. Each bulb is 40 watts but there are 15 bulbs total in this light fixture so combined, they are nice and bright. I love that they are also dimmable.
Quick tip: An accumulation of dust will also affect lighting efficiency, so bulbs should be wiped down occasionally with a damp cloth, HOWEVER, ONLY after they have been removed from the lamp.

In addition to the ceiling light, the bedside table bulbs were also updated. I updated those bulbs with the EcoSmart 60 Watt Replacement A19 Dimmable LED Light Soft White. The Ecosmart LED light bulb is said to  represent a huge cost savings to the consumer, both in terms of the reduced use of electricity coupled with savings on replacement costs versus traditional bulbs.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star site, if every American home replaced just one light bulb with a bulb bearing the Energy Star label, we would save enough energy to light 3 million homes for a year, save roughly $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to those from about 800,000 cars.

Choosing EcoSmart Light Bulbs from The Home Depot is a great way to reduce your environmental footprint as they have
*Energy efficient star rating with lower pricing and higher quality*Lots of design options as in a variety of base options, colors, etc.*Innovative features like motion sensors and being wet and damp rated
I love the efficiency they bring to the spaces too! xx
