One Room Challenge - Week Four- design addict mom

I am having heart palpitations because we have only 2 weeks to go- 2 weeks people! And there is so much still left to do! On the bright side, almost all the light fixtures have been installed and this beauty from Hudson Valley is a showstopper in the bedroom.

I knew i would love the shower tiles I chose from The Tile Shop, but I am actually drooling! This pic isn't the best, but the color is perfect!

One Room Challenge- Week Three

One Room Challenge- Week Three- design addict mom

Welcome to week 3 of the One Room Challenge- I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by! I am in serious panic mode as there is still so much left to do and I envy the designers who are making over just one space.  In the bathroom, there were signs of  mold, wet floors after demo which implied there might be a leak, delays, and unexpected expenses which have led to an increase in the budget. With renovations, nothing is set in stone, and almost always expect the budget to be affected. Nonetheless, with all the hiccups, there has progress- like in that phone snap above, I am standing on the wood floors that have been installed in the closet. Yay! The floors are from our lovely sponsor, Lifecore Flooring. You can refer to week 1 to see the before of the closet.

Some glimpses as demolition of the bathroom was almost finished. That was the most difficult part.

And now that the demolition process is complete, concrete boards (from our lovely sponsor, (The Tile Shop) have been cut to size and placed in the shower area and after,  the bathroom was also waterproofed. It's important to waterproof the bathroom since there is a lot of moisture and you want to be sure that water doesn’t leak through walls and cause mold or other damage. To avoid leaks and excess moisture build-up, take care to waterproof your bathroom wall, floor and ceiling.  If you ever have to waterproof, this product is great!

There are boxes everywhere with deliveries from our amazing sponsors. Cheyenne loves helping me to unpack and check out all the fun pieces that I can't wait to incorporate into the spaces. O.K., quick recap, demolition is complete,  keeping fingers crossed that there will be no more unforeseen issues and that the bathroom will be completely tiled by the end of the week. The closet has been painted, floors installed, but the bathroom still needs to get painted, the lighting installed and the list goes on... I usually share behind the scenes on Instagram stories, so you can check those out too and send me a prayer or two that I get it all completed in time :-).

One Room Challenge -Week Two

One Room Challenge -Week Two- design addict mom
Hello, hello! We made it to week 2 and I feel like I might be behind already! Before we delve into the design details, I've been receiving questions on Instagram if I am the one doing all the work. And the answer is no way! It's no secret that I am a one woman show, but although I'll be doing quite a bit of the work myself, I surely couldn't tackle a project of this size myself and especially within a 6 week timeline. I did have a moment of panic trying to figure out who I was going to hire to help; would they meet my standards? how expensive would they be...? However, the universe smiled on me and it turns out my hairdresser's  husband was the perfect fit as he is a professional in this field. I've known my hairdresser since before I had the kiddos so we go way back.  Basically, I feel very comfortable and confident having her husband on board to help. Shout out to panarican_handyman!

One Room Challenge -Week Two- design addict mom- the bathroom
I mentioned last week that for the bathroom, I wanted to lighten it up in there. I am keeping the layout the same and I also intend on keeping plumbing where it is. To move the plumbing is rather expensive. We actually already ran into an issue where part of the plumbing comes up from the floor and as a result I had to change the design of the vanity to the one pictured. The one I originally chose from the wonderful sponsor, Signature Hardware was  more modern and higher which would make the plumbing visible. Thank goodness, the initial order was not yet shipped and the switch in vanities could be made. This one still has modern lines but is much lower and I love the organic element it adds to the bathroom. The vanity tops, sinks, and mirrors will all be from Signature Hardware. I am also very excited to incorporate these lovely tile selections from The Tile Shop! Check out that 12x24 Calcutta Marble for the floor-yum! I went with that Rosa Char subway tile for the shower because it conjures up memories of the Master bedroom and I love its natural look. All the lighting is from Hudson Valley  and there will be pretty accessories like those baskets from Garnet Hill.  Art is from Minted. I am still undecided about whether or not I will only repaint or also incorporate wallpaper in here...

One Room Challenge -Week Two- design addict mom- the closet
This closet redo has definitely been exhausting mainly due to the fact that I had to remove over 100 pieces of hardware from the wall from the prior closet set up system. There are holes everywhere in the wall but I keep thinking about what it will look like and so I champion on. Remember, I mentioned last week, that the closet is located off the bathroom. The old and worn carpet was ripped out and the beautiful new Gentling floor from Lifecore Flooring already arrived. Even more beautiful in person! With LIFECORE Flooring Products, you get beautiful and unsurpassed hardwood flooring collections with complete confidence, thanks to forest to floor quality control, zero-added formaldehyde and low VOC hardened finishes. There will be a couple new closet system with all the bells and whistles courtesy of Overstock and the pretty flush mount is from Hudson Valley. I was tempted to wallpaper the entire space but it's so tiny and once the clothes are back in place it would be difficult to see the paper, so I've turned my eyes to the 5th wall aka the ceiling to add some pretty paper. I am still deciding what to choose.

One Room Challenge -Week Two- design addict mom- the bedroom
Of course, I have to also show the bedroom some love. It's currently a disaster zone mainly due to the Master bathroom renovation. We had to move out, but I am looking forward to giving it some much needed tlc once everything is in place. The changes are only cosmetic in the form of luxurious layers and some new sophisticated lighting. I plan on adding draperies and reupholstering a chair with fabric from FabricutSumptuous bedding and blankets from Garnet Hill, art from Minted, lighting from Hudson Valley and Couture Lamps, and full length mirror from Varaluz will make it very difficult to ever leave the bedroom-staycation every day in here! Well that's it for now-thanks for stopping by to check out my progress! Be sure to visit the other talented designers below too. xx

One Room Challenge- Week One

One Room Challenge- Week One- design addict mom
Hello everyone and welcome to another round of the amazing One Room Challenge. In case you may not know what the One Room Challenge is- it is where 20 designers/bloggers are invited to transform a space over a six week period. Each Wednesday we detail our progress until the finale on November 6th.  Though I've participated in the One Room Challenge before when I tackled the Master Bedroom many years ago, I am ecstatic to be participating again. Thank you to Linda for inviting me and for once again putting together another stellar round of the ORC.

I guess I was feeling quite ambitious this round, because I am not transforming  just one space, but the entire Master suite! The bedroom will only receive cosmetic updates; no repainting etc., but I have big plans for the Master bathroom and the Master walk in closet. The first pic shows the current state of the Master bathroom.

It used to be this color until I was so tired of looking at it like this, I gave it a quick makeover when I was pregnant with Cheyenne and painted it a dark color to create a moody look.

However, that was a temporary fix and ideally I wanted to give it a gut job and replace everything. Guess what? With this makeover, I plan to do just that. I want to really brighten it up and make it feel more expansive and airy.

Here are a few more before pics:

I can't wait to get rid of these dark tiles in the shower!

These vanities take up so much visual space and square footage and I hope to replace them with smaller ones. I will definitely be sharing lots more about the design process in Week 2, but right now, let's move on to the before of  the Master walk in closet.

Yikes! Sorry you had to see that! The walk in closet is only 10 x 8 and is actually right off the Master bathroom so you have to enter the bathroom in order to get to the closet. Like the Master bathroom, I plan to lighten up the closet especially since there are no windows. I'll be ripping out the carpet and definitely doing something with those walls! More about all this in Week 2; now on to some pretty pics. Let's check out the inspiration I gathered for these spaces:
