This post is Sponsored by Starbucks, but all thoughts expressed are my own.

My home is somewhat of a laboratory for me as it’s constantly changing. In fact, when friends come over, the first thing they ask is, “what’s new?” As a design blogger, I am always inspired with fresh ideas, but, at the same time, I usually brainstorm/seek out ways I can save dollars on my redesign projects. Otherwise, as often as I change things up, it would be quite expensive.

You might recall my prior post with Starbucks where I utilized the Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card as a budgeting tool for groceries, well I am excited to tackle the mini refresh of a bedroom and also on a budget. I’ll once again be utilizing the Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card as a budgeting tool where I load a certain amount to the card for this mini makeover. Armed with some of my favorite ways to save while redesigning a space, my goal will be to stick to the budget on my prepaid card. I love to save money so this will be an exciting challenge!  Here are some of the money saving techniques I intend to incorporate:

*Repurpose what I already have

This office that I am sitting in above to brainstorm for this bedroom redesign is actually one of my redesign projects and a great example of repurposing. This was once a closet that was just being used for collecting junk and I repurposed the space to create an office. I also repurposed a slab of wood that is now being used like a table in the space. For the bedroom refresh, I plan on repurposing/looking for ways to reuse existing items in the house.

*DIY

If there is painting involved with any of my projects, I am usually the one completing the painting aspect. I save a lot of money painting myself. Mind you, there are certain services that I pay for because I know I am not great in those areas, for e.g, wallpapering and anything electrical. However, I am great on painting walls, so for the bedroom refresh, since I plan on changing the wall color, I’ll be painting it myself.

*Shopping Online

Since I earn Stars for everything I buy anywhere I shop when I use my Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card, I will definitely be shopping online instead of driving hours away to shop in stores. I love the convenience plus I’ll be saving on gas for sure!

The rocking chair in the boys’ bedroom is thrifted and their dresser is second hand

*Thrifting

I am addicted to thrifting; maybe it’s the thrill of the hunt or the excitement when I discover a gem but I absolutely love it! Almost all the spaces I’ve designed has a thrifted piece or two. Often times, I’ll check the thrift store first when sourcing items for a design or redesign and I’m because it’s a great way to save. However, it can be time consuming because one has to hunt for the treasures so it’s a good idea to set aside time for thrifting. Nonetheless, the gems found are worth it.

A much needed break with Starbucks

Often times, while working on a project, it can become all consuming, especially because I work from home. However, now that baby Cheyenne is here, I often have to take breaks and switch to Mama mode.

I enjoy going on little dates with her and with all the Stars that I’ve earned by using my

Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card, I think it’s time to reward myself.

Although I am a creature of habit and tend to order the same thing, I love to explore what’s new  via the Starbucks® App and maybe even try something new. Rewards are also good for pastries, sandwiches or food items on the menu at participating stores.

Coffee is always a must have for this Starbucks lover and I can’t wait to receive my Birthday Reward. Integrated directly into the Starbucks Rewards™ loyalty program, Starbucks members who use the Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card will, enjoy a food or drink Reward every 125 Stars you earn and receive a Birthday Reward. How cool is that!

Are you a Starbucks Rewards member already enjoying the perks of your Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card? I’d love to hear what you love most. If you’re interested, you can learn more about the card here
