Embracing Wood and Natural Fiber Materials in Interiors: Trendspotting

marble countertops
I’ve noticed the use of wooden or natural fiber accessories being used to add warmth and texture in interiors lately; be it modern or traditional interiors. I’ve always been a fan of this look and in fact, I have quite the collection of woven baskets and wooden pieces in my home. I think they enliven a space and of course, there is that instant cozy factor that come with their use. Also,  aren't those light fixtures beautiful! I've been crushing on some beautiful Hinkley lighting that would look fabulous in our kitchen!

  1. It's a yay for me too Stacey.
I love the mix of natural and slick.
Baskets, natural wood and exposed beams - definitely add character to a home.
Hope you have a lovely day,

  2. Well I love the look, esp done in a scandinavian way, when I see it in photos, and I have a fair amount of wood in the mid-tone range in my house so you'd think I am a definite yay, but I haven't been successful pulling the look of in my home. Still a work in progress I guess. Finding a good shade of white for the walls, one that is warm but still definitely white rather than beige, cream or yellow, seems to be a key element to compliment the wood in my opinion. Any suggestions on white wall paint (BM colors preferred :)?

  3. Love, love this trend. The pairing of roughen planks in a high ceiling adds such a rustic, sculptural element to any home. Have a great week ahead.

  4. I just love all kinds of wood, and the combination of it with the natural fibers is really a wonderful one.

  5. Oh Stacey, I agree about the wood and natural fibers. I make sure I have the following elements in my home: wood, stone, fiber, crystal, metal (iron and copper) and cotton. Bringing these things into the home keeps things feeling not only "antique" or "vintage" but a closeness to the earth...for lack of a better image! I LOVE THESE PHOTOS! Anita

  7. A big YAY! I love the look and feel of natural wood, it just feels more natural! LOL! I meant, warm, effortless. Baskets and anything woven with natural fibers I think add softness esp. to modern spaces. :-)

  11. Wow! I cannot wait to see the whole kitchen now. All I can say is your are quite talented and patient. I have painted cabinets before and know how extremely tedious it is. To do the finish you have done is a lot of hard work but certainly well worth it. Your cabinets are gorgeous!
