White Doesn’t Have to Be Boring.

White2
Many people have an aversion to colour. I, on the other hand cannot imagine living with all white. However, these interiors have me considering the possibilities… I love that they showcase a plethora of ways to enliven white; the use of different materials, the presence of warm woods/different textures, pairing white with other colours, using bright accessories, etc.

So, how is everyone? I have been a bit busy with matters related to the new house. It’s now in the stage where it’s being cleaned, so that means construction is officially done. Hopefully, we’ll be moving in very, very soon. Happy Wednesday everyone!

PS. My thoughts and prayers are with all New Zealanders and their loved ones.

  3. LOVELY FRIEND,

Now YOU know how to showcase white. I LOVE WHITE BUT I need TEXTURE and a hint of other colors to make me feel good....and you hit it just perfectly. The other surrounding MUST be texturized and vary in style and size...these are PERFECT COMBINATIONS! Are you sure you weren't a famous home designer on another life? :)

Magnificent, superb, and beautifully combined....oh, how you are inching your way to SPLENDOR in your own new home!!!! Have a fun day dearest! Anita

  4. I love the feeling you get when walking into an all white room...it gives you a peaceful and serene feeling as these pictures exemplify. But I think I would need a little color..I think, actually I know, I would get bored with all white. MAYBE for a beach house..having an all white room could be amazing but in general need a little color a little pop of something.

  5. In my last house, each and every room was painted a different color. I even had a black wall in my kitchen :) Not now, this house we painted all white and I love it, can't imagine ever going back to color. These rooms are heaven to me. Each and every one is perfect, could happily live in all of them :)

  9. The Swede I am, I love my white rooms. I will never tire of it and find them so soothing.

Your parade is fantastic and I love so many of the pictures.

Good luck with the cleaning and hope that you get to move in soon!

  11. I love all of these.. but esp the staircase in the "READ" picture. I've been obsessed with the style of homes in Israel lately, after seeing a House Hunters episode in Jerusalem, and they all seem to have a staircase like that. I hope you get to move in soon. I can't wait to see the new place all put together!

  16. Oh, I love all white rooms although I don't think it would work in my house because of my tendency to spill things :) An all white bathroom might be just perfect though!

  17. I love all white, but it would soon fill up with colors from pieces I love. I think you are right, texture is the key. I love the exposed brick in the first image!

Good luck with the last stages of your new home!

  22. I'm with you Stacey. I love the look but don't know if I could commit to it. I like the serene feeling you can pull of when it's well done and I especially love the white and mid tone wood together. That's super warm. Yay, for the house being completed!!

  23. Totally agree with you Stacey, white can be stunning. But I could never go that direction because of our winters and I get sick of seeing white and it goes cold in NH. Congrats on the house cleaning you must be getting so excited to move in by now.

  24. Oh I love the white and green photo you showed. That works for me. I'm generally not into the white on white look. It's too stark and too hard to keep clean (especially if it involves carpet!) But I love mixing white with bold or bright colors. They really pop on a white back drop. :)

  25. Hi Stacey! White is right up my alley, you know that, right? love picture nr. 2, only pastel green isn't my favourite but here it works. Thanks for the inpiration, I think I will going to use the one with the books in it, so thanks!
Oh, and good luck with the move! If it becoming stressful, know that the number of boxes eventually will slink...or so I have been told...boxes are still filling my storage space... hugs! Maureen x

  28. What a great post! I guess it just goes to show that any color, including white, can be chic as long as you vary the textures and layer on the accessories!

  32. No way. Well not your images that's for sure. I adore the bathroom and also the image with the red "read" sign. White is great as you can add any texture or colour with it. You always find the most amazing shots Stacey. And your house... How exciting. What a great start to the year. Yep, very, very sad the poor people of Christchurch. Feels really close. Our neighbour who is a Fireman has gone over to help. Really devastating. Pruxxx

  37. Great blog. I found you through enchanted home. I am a big user of white rooms. We have a small beach house and the entire house (all 2000 sq feet) is done in shades of white and creams, with a very small accent of pale mint green. It is so pretty and fresh. When I go there I feel transformed, the white has a very calming affect.
