My War Hero, Veteran aka my Soulmate is Finally Home!

I am so overwhelmed with emotion as I write this post. My hubby is finally home; safe and sound. When I started this blog, a friend asked, “so what are you going to blog about, the war?” I thought to myself, now why would I want to do that? Then again, I get why she would ask such a question, since I’m literally married to the war. It has consumed almost every aspect of my life. Although, I already knew I wanted to blog about my passion(design), I couldn’t even fathom allowing the war to take away that mental creative space that I successfully managed to keep free of its grips. In fact, it is that space that keeps my mind from wandering too often to unhappy and grim thoughts. I also keep it very busy(as is evident from my blog).
It has been almost a year later, and baby Z will finally get to hug his Daddy and bite him instead of meSmile. I am looking forward to so many things, but I’ll be very content to just be able to  touch his face. Touching his face is something I enjoy.  It is actually an act I’ve come to treasure because he almost lost an eye on one of  his prior deployments when the vehicle he was in hit an IED. Shrapnel from the wreckage injured one of his eyes and that was a harrowing nightmare that I will never forget. His eye is healed now, but the purple heart that is framed in our home serves as a constant reminder…
This is a celebratory post, so I will not dwell on unpleasant memories. Thank you all for your support of my humble blog and your comments on my mad rantings about interior spaces. Also, to the lovely ladies who sent me personal emails to check up on baby Z and me or to find out how the hubby was doing-I truly felt loved and your gestures meant so much.  I just wanted to also add  that you should love like there’s no tomorrow. Life is so fleeting-trust me I know.  I don’t know if I’ll be posting much this week or rearing my little island girl head on your lovely blogs much or at all for the rest of this week. I’ll be busy touching my hubby’s face and giving it lots of kissesWinking smile  XX

Fashion to Home: Anne Hathaway style.

I hope that everyone accomplished some type of relaxation this weekend. I feel the weekend ended very quickly though, how about you? It could be due to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier… Anyway, I told myself that I would stay away from the computer all weekend. However, that effort was short-lived.  Nonetheless, it is because of this short-lived effort that I was able to stumble upon the inspiration for today’s post. I spotted this fairy tale inspired editorial this weekend featuring Anne Hathaway  for the November issue of Vogue US.  I was so enchanted by this editorial that for today’s post, I decided to showcase interiors that channel some of the looks  from this editorial.

My room translation for look below:

Sunday Random Delights.

The happiest people are those who think the most interesting thoughts. Those who decide to use leisure as a means of mental development, who love good music, good books, good pictures, good company, good conversation, are the happiest people in the world. And they are not only happy in themselves, they are the cause of happiness in others.William Lyon Phelps

I am dumbfounded by her beauty.

Simple yet so profound..

Jennifer Lopez and her gorgeous two year old twins Max and Emme. This adorable pic is for the Jennifer Lopez Gucci campaign.

I love the bookcase flanking that back wall, the open feeling and natural light  in this room. The throw pillows on the streamlined couch are just right and I love how the doggie is right at home tooSmile.  This interior space is  apart of a modern home that was built with green design as its focus. You can read about it here.
Happy Sunday everyone! XX

Just relax!

Sometimes we need a reminder to just relax and to not “sweat” the small stuff. I know my mind is always active trying to brainstorm/find solutions for this problem or that problem. Most times these problems don’t even belong to me! I think I would be a skinny thing if the rate at which your mind worked led to weight lossSmile. I’m not going to get all Dr. Phil on you or anything, i'm just saying take it easy and just relax. A wise man, aka my hubby always told me “If you can’t control it, don’t worry about it.” Easier said than done, especially with the lifestyle I lead being married to him! Anyway, I’m going to give it a try and you should too.

This daybed combed with all these pillows and linens that are bursting with exotic flair would make the perfect spot to just relax, wouldn't it? Here’s to a relaxing weekend for everyone. Hugs and kisses to each of you! XX

Courtyard House in the South of France.

I’m loving this house aptly called the Courtyard House that is located in the South of France. It’s easy on the eyes and laid back in its décor. This outdoor spot is so perfect spot for lounging…

I’m loving the double glass doors and how seamlessly the outside and inside blend. Such a great way to extend the living area.

I adore that blown up piece of the Eiffel tower!

I love how the browns of the furniture wood pieces pop against the white décor and concrete floors.

What’s not to love about this kitchen? The chalkboard wall is one my favourites feature to have in a kitchen and that cutie pie obviously loves it tooSmile.

The bedrooms seem to exude the personality of its occupants. They are beautiful!

A play room that any child would appreciate. I can hear the laughter and giggles that must exist hereSmile.

Awww, how cute is this?

Thank you all for entertaining baby Z yesterdaySmile.  Happy Thursday to everyone! XX

Baby Z is in the house + Guest Post.

Hi everyone. I know, i know, i’m bald thanks to my mom. Yea, i'm not too enthused about the new look either. The last time you saw me, i had lots of hair but, alas, mom decided to cut it all off(probably because i never fail to aggressively demonstrate my hatred for all hair grooming items, thus making it nearly impossible for my mom to groom my hair). I am happy to say though that i was happy to see some hair when i looked in the mirror this morning:-). I’m a hair wearing kind of guy-ahem-baby. Anyway, i digress... I am supposed to really be telling you that my mom will be elsewhere today. Yes, she is guest posting over by the lovely Charlotta of Space for Inspiration.

Please go and check out my mom’s guest post if you haven't already:-). I know that she would appreciate it! Thank you all and have a great Wednesday! I wonder if she'll let me visit again soon; i kinda like it here...

Bins on the wall.

How awesome is it to have those bins mounted on the wall as display shelves! The hardware that is being used to affix them to the walls somehow look like eyes to me too( adding to the cool factor). I also love the red. The blue chair totally pops too and layering the blue rug over the sisal is brilliant! This is a great example of the use of primary colours to enliven a space tastefully. Will you be putting any bins on your walls too? I must say i love the idea. Happy Tuesday everyone. XX

Fall Travel inspiration: The Lake Placid Lodge

Hi my lovelies. I hope everyone had a great weekend. All weekend, i’ve been daydreaming about visiting this rustic gem aka The Lake Placid Lodge. It  is located in the Tri-Lakes region of the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York.  I would love to rendezvous there for a week or so when dearest hubby returns home. I really cannot think of the perfect adjectives to describe it. All i know is it’s been beckoning to me since the first time i read about it here. It has breathtaking mountain and lake vistas, a fireplace in every room or cabin, and a decor that exudes romance, elegance and does so in a sexy rustic kind of way:-) Lake Placid was also built by hand in the Arts and Crafts tradition and blends seamlessly with its lakeside setting. Each of the 30 rooms and cabins is unique, with custom twig and birch bark furniture, a private porch, and deep-soaking tubs to warm up a chilly body (or two).

romantic dinner for two…

So peaceful…

Stunning place, right? Welcome to Monday my friends. XX
