This house is located in Madrid and was designed by Julio Jiménez of the Corral of Circle Q Architects. It was renovated to make better use of the space and to also accommodate the homeowner’s love for books and music. In addition, there is a distinction amongst the spaces based on their function and each space also showcases the homeowners’ love for red. I refer to their use of red as “red done right” because they used this colour in the right dosage amount(since red can be overwhelming if applied/used with a heavy hand).

Aww, i love this room! The Shoji screens are perfect for dividing the space, the dark wall is a nice pop of contrast, the wall of books(heavenly), the sisal rug adds great texture and of course, there’s that adorable dog. *Sigh*
What do you think, red done right or not? XX

Red done well for sure! I was always scared of red as it can be so strong but I adore what they did with this home...I need that amazing chair now:)
ReplyDeleteKisses,sweetie
Yes, I love how it is barely there. It really is beautiful. Good find!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have always steered away from color, because I have a fear of overdoing it, but this is done perfectly.
ReplyDeletePlease take me to this house - I just adore the red punctuation!
ReplyDeletei love pops of red! :o)
ReplyDeleteLove a burst of red like this and agree with you that too much of a good thing is.. well too much really..! :)
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is wonderful, though I would have swapped the red rug under the table for something different. Perhaps a black/white stripe to break it up a little.
Hoping you are well.
I am having a great time in Sweden (now that we are well again..).
Lots of love
xx Charlotta
P.S. With the new announcements by the president.. does this mean your husband will be coming home? x
I did some bad things with red in my last house so it is nice to see it done well here. I've got some pretty red flowers in my office right now, they would go perfectly in these rooms.
ReplyDeleteOh so perfect! I love all these photos, too, the lived in + real look. The dog, the dress + pumps, the tomatoes! And so much light. This is a great find!
ReplyDeleteI am pumped up about those pumps! Made me smile. I've always had one fabulous signature pair in my closet!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are great and so is the rug they are on.
If anything the painted wall was brilliant b/c you know how hard it is to paint red...like 16 coats hard! How great it was able to make a a big statement on a smaller surface area :)
Red is awesome. XO, Kelly
This is stunning, Stacey! I also have a fear of overusing red (haha, maybe aftermath of a crazy-colour-loving mum), but this is just pitch-perfection. I like how you pointed out the distinct space-use...makes it all 'flow' even more beautifully!
ReplyDeleteA passion for life and love...a very balanced home, i would say...very lovely, stacey. you have an incredible eye and a way with words...thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images! I love when red is used in such a subtle way!
ReplyDeleteLove this home.
ReplyDeleteWe have a red wall in our family room- I like to think it is done right!
Definitely red done right - such perfect pops of colour!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog, so lovely to "meet" you!!

I love this post! My home, which is tiny, is decorated with pops of red in all rooms! My bedroom and master bath is white and red! Sitting room has red sleeper and the outdoor patios both done in red! Just enough!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this home and I have to agree with you on the red. It looks faboulous!
ReplyDeleteI think the bedroom is my favourite pic. The red lamp looks wonderful to all of the white. And of course the red tulips, so cute!
This feels like a real home.
Ps. I too adore the wall of books and the cutie laying on the floor:)! Ds.
Hugs to you!
Done RIGHT! Gorgeous clean and crisp pop against the white. Hmm if I didn't have children or dogs or husband white might work for me. haha
ReplyDeleteI love a good splash of red! As a kid I always loved my Mother's kitchen, because one wall was painted red. It was the perfect accent to that part of the house. :)
ReplyDeleteMy home is also a mix of Red White and Black .. Love these pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's done way right! Perfect pops of red. Oh and if you need to find me, I'll be in that gorgeous bathroom :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
I agree. I adore red. It has to be the "right" red, so, so important. I adore the first shot and the shot with the bright pink tutu on the bed. Doesn't the pink go brilliantly with red. Pruxxx
ReplyDeletebeautifully done... love when they add it and it just looks so chic!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bathrooms!!

Wonderful! Red had always scared me too, however, in the right location, with the right accents I think it can be a beautiful interior colour. x

Now this is GORGEOUS, and Stacy, I don't even like red, BUT, this is truly exquisite. AND THAT RED TULLE SKIRT AND PUMPS....DONE JUST RIGHT, INDEED!! Anita
ReplyDeleteTotally agree !!!
ReplyDeleteOMG absolutely! Gorgeous, as long as it's not too much and this is perfect. Sorry I haven't been around recently but we just moved and don't have internet at home!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Well I had to pop back in again (I think this is the 3rd, um 4th, time I peeked again!) - sooo gorgeous! And also, that's soo sweet and lovely your husband loves cooking and had to learn French. Yes, I'd gladly teleport myself to France - this second would be nice! :)
ReplyDeleteoh definitely!!! couldnt agree more. YOu know, my kitchen's main wall is red like that, a bright, strong red and for like EVER I thought thats what I wanted but after about a year, I now seem to feel a bit tired of it... and I suddently find myself longing for some cool and breezy mint/aqua shades... its amazing what colors can do for our lives.I do believe red is a great color for a kitchen or dining room because it seems to make yyou hungry, it encorages you to cook and eat. I loved the way mine looked but its time for a change! xo
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love a pop of color, especially a happy one?
ReplyDeleteSO done right! Especially with the fuschia dress on the bed, I have always said, hot pink and red DO go together! XX!
ReplyDeleteRed is such a powerful color and can really add a point of interest to a room! btw...hope you enjoy your tiramisu tomorrow! I am so jealous that you have such a gourmet chef (and one who is will to share!) as your neighbor ;) xo Cat
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of red on the interior of a home it makes me nervous, but I think this place is done just right. It pops in all the right places and is incredibly tastefully done!!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Carrie

ReplyDeletethese are great examples of red done right! red can be tricky especially if overdone, but these pics truly show how much vibrance and warmth it can bring to a room.
